Hunter Appreciation Day & Hunter Appreciation postcards
The Vermont Legislature has enacted a joint resolution and
Governor Jim Douglas has promised a proclamation declaring
September 23, 2005 "Hunter Appreciation Day." The
legislature and governor acted to honor the substantial
economic and environmental contributions of hunting and
hunters.
The Vermont Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs, Inc., has
applied for approval from the U.S. Postal Service for a
Special Cancellation postmark to commemorate "Hunter
Appreciation Day." This unique, and one day only, postmark
features the image of two wild turkeys, a handsome white
tail buck, with the wording "Hunter Appreciation Day" and
depicts Montpelier, Vermont, September 23, 2005 as the place
and time of this event.
There will be a "Hunter Appreciation Day" ceremony the State
House at 10 A.M. on Friday, September 23rd . This is an
important event for Sportsmen & women of Vermont.
