The Federation Donates $10,000 to the Vermont National Guard Charitable Foundation, Inc.On August 2nd, 2006, the Vermont Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs presented Vermont National Guard Adjutant General Michael Dubie with a check for $10,000.00 to support our VT National Guard and their families. The funds will be used to assist VT Guard personnel and their families through the Vermont National Guard Charitable Foundation, Inc.
The funds were raised by a raffling a pistol designated the Green Mountain Boys Gun, a NRA “Operation Enduring Freedom” 9 mm Beretta pistol that is a more finely blued and embellished version of the service sidearm of our deployed troops. It was one of a Beretta one-time production run made for the NRA Foundation. Only 2,500 such pistols created. The Green Mountain Boys Gun was won by Rep. Alan Parent (R) St. Albans, a member of the Vermont House Fish & Wildlife Committee. In a great act of generosity Alan donated the pistol and its attractive hardwood presentation case to the Vermont National Guard Museum, to be on permanent public display.
The Vermont Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs was proud to be able to assist Vermonters in raising money to support the members of the VT Guard and their families. The Federation stands behind the Guard and its families who provide the blanket of security that makes it possible for us to enjoy our freedom. |
