Vermont Legislators Shoot 2008Late Tuesday afternoon on April 29th, the Barre Fish & Game Club graciously made their clubhouse and range facilities available to host the 2008 Vermont Legislators Shoot. Because of heavy rain earlier in the day, the planned skeet range was too wet and the shooting event had to be changed to the planned alternative of a pistol/rifle shooting event under covered firing positions that were dry. Each legislator/shooter had a highly qualified individual coach for each type of firearm they used. The rules of safe firearms handling and range safety rules were covered prior to shooting. (Note eye and ear protection for safety on the line) Safety, safety, safety. Also, the legislator/shooters received coaching and instruction for every type of firearm. (Note the large sign of range rules) The photos below show the good time that both the legislators and coaches had. The camera flash makes the light conditions appear much darker than actually existed, and all shooting had ceased before 8 P.M..
A late running day at the state house, coupled with the usually unpredictable Vermont weather, resulted in a smaller turnout than in 2007. But, a good time was had by all and everyone present looks forward to the 2009 Vermont Legislator's Shoot. |
