VT Game Warden Smiley Receives Operation Game Thief Award
Vermont Fish & Game Warden Curtis Smiley was honored by Operation Game Thief in recognition of his selection as Vermont State Game Warden of The Year. In a June 13th public ceremony Game Warden Smiley was presented with a Hunter Appreciation Day framed set of wild game postcards by Coordinator of Operation Game Thief, Bill Leipold. Warden Smiley is a 12 year veteran and his district includes Fairfax, St Albans, Georgia, Fletcher, Bakersfield, Fairfield, and Westford. Operation Game Thief is a nonprofit joint project of the Vermont Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs and the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department. Operation Game Thief pays rewards to individuals who provide tips that lead to arrests or citations, whether or not there is a successful prosecution. Among those in attendance were Roy Marble, Myron Wheeler, Bill Brunelle, Harry Montague, Jim Chapman and Ramel Kuney from the Federation, Federation officer and OGT coordinator for F&W Bill Leipold, Lt. Rober Lutz, and Commisioner Wayne Laroche as well as officers and directors of the Sportsmen's Club of Franklin County. The Federation provided sandwiches, drinks and a cake for the event. |
