Senate lead bill S.152 ImprovedAn amendment was achieved today in further protecting the interests of Vermont's shooting and outdoors sporting community. S.152, a lead in consumer products bill, is once again being amended in the further protection of firearms, ammunition, components of ammunition, air rifle projectiles, shooting, casting bullets, reloading, hunting and firing ranges. Numerous state-wide groups representing the shooting/hunting population also worked closely with the Vermont Attorney General's Office in achieving a requirement for legislative approval before mandating the lowering of lead standards for car batteries or lead plumbing materials. This amending the bill prevents establishing a precedent of granting the VT AG the power to unilaterally alter a Vermont mandatory standard based upon other states having enacted lower standards. The VT AG must first get authority from the Vermont Legislature. |
