Missisquoi Valley Sportsman's Club Hosted an NRA Shooting Camp as a New Shooters' DayOn May 21, the Missisquoi Valley Sportsman's Club hosted an NRA Shooting Camp as a New Shooters' Day. The event was sponsored by a grant from the NRA Foundation. Twenty-four youngsters and one adult participated while parents and family watched. The youngsters first fired .22 rifles under the supervision of experienced shooters, taking their targets with them. Then the group moved to the trap range where the shooters got to try their hands at clay birds. The grant money from the NRA Foundation was used to purchase two youth model shotguns and one adult model shotgun as well as ammunition for the shotguns. The club provided eye and hearing protection, .22 rifles, ammunition and targets and lunch for everyone. The kids had a good time despite the rain which curtailed the trap shooting and forced the shooters back under the roof on the rifle range for more .22 shooting.
