Federation Says "NO to H.484, H.578 & H.737"H.484 is a toxics-chemical bill that is so overly expansive that it endangers all forms of ammunition and firearms. This position was made clear by Justin Johnson, Commissioner of the VT Department of Environmental Conservation, in his testimony opposing the bill before the House Fish, Wildlife and Water Resources Committee. Johnson's testimony made it clear that legislation that bans toxics will ban chemicals. Those chemical bans could endanger gun powder, primers and other components used in ammunition and other outdoors sporting equipment. H.578 would move control of Vermont Fish & Wildlife game wardens out of that department to under the control of the Dept. of Public Safety. The game wardens would then be subject to reassignment to enforcement duties other than fish and game law violations. Vermont Sports Men & Women pay for the game wardens with their license and permit fees. Management of the wardens should remain with VT Fish & Wildlife Department. By the way, the study that was used to justify moving the game wardens out of F&W consulted with numerous other stake holders, EXCEPT any organization representing the Sports Men and Women of Vermont. What a slap in our face. H.737 is a lock-up-your-guns bill. The state government wants to tell you what to do in YOUR home. Exactly where does this endless control of our lives and homes end? Call Speaker Shap Shap Smith at 800-322-5616 and say "No to H.484, H.578 & H.737." |
