Federation Hosting NRA Range Safety Officer Course in Essex, VTThe NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) Course will be at held at the Fire Station off Sand Hill Road in the Town of Essex on Saturday, April 3rd. NRA RSO course graduates will be trained and certified to control the operations on firing ranges. Students taking the course must already be safe and proficient in the safe handling of firearms. This is not a course for novice shooters. Students must be 21 years of age to graduate from the course and be certified as an NRA RSO. The class starts at 9 A.M. and will be an all day course. There is no smoking on the fire station property. The cost of the NRA RSO Course is $25.00, and it is a bargain because the instructors are not charging for their time. The $25.00 fee covers just the cost of the instructional materials. The instructors are Mike MacDuff and Steve Jeffrey, both NRA certified to conduct the NRA RSO Course. There is limited refrigerator space at the fire station for students who bring a lunch requiring refrigeration. Once again, the instructors are donating their time; they are only charging the amount of the costs of the training materials. In other states the NRA RSO Course is much more expensive. The instructors have to pay for the course materials in advance, so it is necessary for students to enroll and pay for the course materials prior to attending the class. We do not want the instructors, who are donating their time to run the class, getting stuck with materials for which they have already paid, because people back out of the class. Also, we want to avoid having any of the 25 seats in the class go vacant because people back out without notice. The instructors advise that the student should bring the writing materials they want to use, including notebooks and a 3-ring binder for securing the course handout materials. The instructors will provide all of the firearms, ammunition, targets and other materials necessary for the range portion of the course. Students will not bring firearms or ammunition into the classroom. The instructors are not flexible on this subject. If you are planning to attend, please call Mike MacDuff at 802-598-0968 before you send a check. You can also contact Mike if have any questions. After letting Mike know you want to enroll, please send a check, for $25.00 made out to Mike MacDuff and mail it no later than March 29 to:
